X-Ray Vision:
The Southwest regions and Southeat regions of the United States are experiencing major drought issues. For example, Southern California is experiencing extreme to exceptional drought. First, I think extreme outweighs the level of description exceptional does. If there were a tornado coming your way, I don't think you would be describing the tornado as exceptional. Seriously, the Southeast is taking more heat as it experiences what the National Drought Mitigation Center would classify as the highest level of drought, D4. Right now, the people of the Southeat regions of the US are experiencing water rations, banning of outdoor water use, etc. Many businesses that incorporate water as a major component in the success of their business are going to experience a decrease in revenue. Many people still have not adapted to the issued water rationing. Some people believe that we have consumed our way into drought. I believe that our lack of water can be attributed more to the drought, yet still towards our daily mass consumations of water. Also, the drought could have been caused by the overwhelming dilemma: global warming. I am not saying it is a true factor, but it could be. According to Carol Couch, we should address the matter with reservoirs and strict enforcement on water use. Possibly, we can find alternative water sources, enforce a tight water ration, build more reservoirs, but more importantly grow more trees. Sounds redundant to say that growing more trees during a drought, but it is true. Trees contribute to more precipitation because of the moisture given off . In the end, this drought sucks!

Xavier Buelna, hello. So water is obviously the most important resource on our planet. We need to be careful because one day we will run out of the freshwater source that we take for granted every single day. The fact that we are in a drought is definitely due to our planet's overconsumption but at the same time, our intensifying global climate. It is not a coincidence that as we increase emissions, our climate changes, and we receive less rainfall. We need to start thinking about long term solutions to the drought process. People will not stop overconsuming, so it is my opinion that we look for a new method of supplying freshwater.
It's odd to think about a drought when everyday water seems so plentiful in our daily lives. I think that global warming definitely has something to do with it. It's time we realize that the amount of freshwater on earth is limited. We should be especially careful to use our resources responsibly and not in excess. Like Zach said, new methods of supplying freshwater should be a priority.
I would also point out that part of the reason we have a drought is because we live in a desert. There has never been enough water to go around, and our climate goes through hundred year cycles of wet and dry. I really don't think that this drought is truly exceptional since we have one every so often and we do live in a desert. Just saying...
i think that this drought we are experiencing is really a good indicator of our ability to handle these situations. i say this because if we are in a horrible drought as your article says, i personally haven't even noticed it, so kudos to whoever has been doing their job to make me not notice it. i personally can't even imagine what life would be like if we had the same rations and stuff that others have. anyways, i guess this can be concluded by saying: suck it northern california, and thanks for the water.
well hello.
It's tough to disagree with you when you say we need water and the drought is hurting our economy and such and such. so i wont. i would like some more detail though on the situation and not basic information like, "Without water we are having a drought." yes i get that. whats going on with global warming is that causing the drought? hmmmmm
