X-Ray Vision:
There is a religious divide in the US concerning the acceptance of homosexuals. The article focuses more on the conflict between the Episcopalians and Anglicans. The Episcopalians are taking the heat for being one of the first religious groups to accept homosexuals as members of the church. They are allowed to become priests and bishops, and participate as members of the church. On the other hand, Anglicans are completely against the idea of inducting homosexuals into their religion. It all started when the Episcopalian church ordained a gay priest, V. Gene Robinson as the bishop of New Hampshire. A group of the communion’s top leaders, the primates, had given the Episcopalian Church an ultimatum: to declare the end the consecration of gay priests and yield official blessings for same-sex couples. The Episcopalian Church formulated a crafty speech to please the primates, while holding true to their belief of including same-sex couples and ordained homosexuals. In the end, they agreed to the terms set forth by the primates: to refrain from using official blessings on same-sex couples and think twice before ordaining a gay priest. The conflict expands throughout all denominations in America, which include conservative and liberal church members. The common consensus among the denominations that are slowly including homosexuals into their community is the practice of restraint. But the movement of accepting homosexuals is beginning and at least there is starting point: the Episcopalian Church.

I think that the Episcopalian church is brave in taking this stand. I also believe that in the end, they will be seen as genious spiritual leaders. I think that many pro same-sex marriage disagree with the fact that churches preach acceptance of others yet do not accept these people because they are do not agree with traditional values. As far as my prediction for the future, more churches will follow the Episcopalians example.
It is nice to see a tiny bit of acceptance throughout the religious community for this traditionally discriminated against group. I agree it he sense that the Episcopalian church is extrememly brave for taking the first stand yet I am not surprised. This denomination has been known to wander away from traditional beliefs in the past, and I hope that they can start a popular trend throughout the church community.
I'm glad that there is finally a denomination of the church that is accepting of homosexuals. Personally, I am tired of the convential church view of homosexuals and am glad to see one that is less ignorant.
are they really called primates? other than that i think that its good that homosexuals are being accepted in more and more ways, while being gay may not be easy at times it seems with each accomplishment it might get a little easier
I think that the fact that the Episcopalians allowed a gay man to become a bishop is a big step towards acceptance in the future. Although most churches do not believe in letting gays become clergy members, let alone participate in a church service, I believe that more churches will follow the way of the Episcopalians. The more traditional churches, such as the Orthodox and Catholic Churches, will probably not allow this to happen, but I feel that churches such as the Lutheran and various other Protestant churches will accept gays into their communities and clergy.
I think that it is terrific that the Episcopalian church and allowing homosexuals to be allowed into to their churches. Not only are they being accepted but that have the ability “to become priests and bishops, and participate as members of the church.” It is wonderful that homosexuals are finally being accepted by a religious community and no longer being outcast for their sexual attractions.
